By far the best curry I’ve ever had

Haven’t visited since it was taken over by new owners but saw the Gourmet nights being offered and thought we would give it a try and I’m glad we did! I would go as far to say it was even better than before! They have undercut the other restaurants in the area and the food is by far the best. So good I told my mum and we went back the following night! Service outstanding no hidden costs it was just perfect.

THE NEW OWNERS ARE HORRIBLE - The man was very blunt on the phone and rude while we were making the order, we checked it while the delivery driver was still here thank god as we was missing half the order, when we rang up to say he said it was in fact all there and we were wrong so we put the delivery driver on the phone to tell him exactly what was unpackaged in front of her and that things were indeed missing, at first he was dismissive of her thinking she was a customer before he realised who she was aswell 😅 he then offered no discount and wanted further money for what was missing from the order, in what world one chicken biryani and a curry is £25 alone I have no idea but he then wanted more for the rest. We ended up saying to sod it and gave the food back to the delivery driver and took the money back. We live and work in a public house and a whole room full of our regulars heard how rude this man was (the phone was on speaker because my mum is hard of hearing) and all of them have said they will never order from you again or ever try you because of how disgusting your attitude was to a paying customer. You could have gave us a discount and been polite about it when it was your mistake and made atleast some money but instead now you’ve got to put food in the bin and make nothing, also you’ve made yourself known to a whole room of people who like to go out to eat in the area as rude and undeserving of their business… as someone who has worked in the public sector for years you’ve not got good business sense 😅

Tonight was the final time I will eat at this restaurant. The service was appalling so slow it was ridiculous, some of the food was cold and had got sent back twice. Lastly after adding up what we paid and what the bill actually came to it turned out we were overcharged by just over £16. The manager then said we could have the money back or he can keep it as a tip, due to half of my party had paid and left already, we decided to let him keep the money but we will not go to the Clifton Cuisine again.

I have used this title as I ordered a takeaway to be delivered. I have been vegetarian for over 40 years and was disappointed that instead of the vegetarian meal I had ordered, a meat one was delivered. I found this out too late and had already dished it up onto my rice and other side dishes - I also took a mouthful before realising the mistake and felt physically sick. I rang the restaurant who, admittedly, offered to send me the correct curry but by this time I felt so ill I did not want to eat anything. I requested a refund but was told that as I had paid online they would not/could not refund me!!! I was not impressed and said as much - to be told "sorry, it's human error - what do you want me to do? Mistakes happen!!!" Yes, mistakes do happen but the way you deal with them is key, however, as much as it upset and disgusted me to be given meat, at least I am not an allergy sufferer - this sort of "mistake" could have ended in horrific circumstances. Also they advertise as "vegetarian friendly" - certainly not the case which I experienced!! I am extremely disappointed with the customer service - I have used this restaurant many times and always enjoyed the food so to be dealt with so bluntly and indifferently was extremely poor and unprofessional. I do not understand why I could not get a refund. My whole meal was ruined. I think the staff definitely need to sign up to charm school!!

We ate at the clifton cuisine this evening, the food was outstanding as it always was under the previous owners but the service was below par. No interaction from the staff, after we finished our main course we waited for 20 minutes for someone to ask us if we would like dessert or coffee but instead the waiters were busy chatting together, in the end we paid and left. Four scored for food quality.

Haven't been to Clifton Cuisine for a long time as I found food pretty average, Butt now it's under new management. Food tasty, good size portions, great value for money. Friendly service ... Only one criticism, and of course its my own personal taste..the decor needs re thinking!
