Darwin Cenotaph的点评
点评：Located in Bicentennial Park is the Cenotaph, this is not its original location but it makes it a whole lot easier for people to remember ANZAC day when you have room for large numbers to attend the event. It commemorates those from the Northern Territory who served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. It lists the names of those who have died in service or been killed in action, with those from World War One listed on three plaques in front of the cenotaph.
The cenotaph contains plaques commemorating World War Two, Korea, Malaya, Borneo and Vietnam. At the rear of the cenotaph is a red granite wall and three flagpoles. On either side of the cenotaph are curved red granite walls. On the left and right walls are listed campaigns that have involved Australian units; all details are in gold leaf.
It overlooks Darwin Harbour which is very appropriate considering the action that occurred in the harbour in 1942. There are other memorials nearby to this one and the public toilets also has a brilliant mural on it. It's very humbling standing here as you know the bombing occurred here.
The view from the area above the information boards is stunning.
