Prepare yourself for Madagascar travel

点评：It took a couple of years to plan out this trip and the guide I was working with was killed right before I was able to complete booking the trip. At the last minute local friends recommended Joce (they had traveled with him twice around Madagascar). I sent Joce my itenerary and he made a few adjustments due to roads being destroyed after the last heavy rainfall during the rainy season. He also down graded a few hotels ( which turned out to be not great). Joce is a wonderful man and is able to get the hotels and day tours, local guides, drivers etc lined up successfully, however he is very limited in speaking and understanding English which left many questions unanswered, especially traveling through the villages between destinations. He also was not good at sharing information so we always had to try to ask him what to expect next. Another mistake on my part was not to ask if the vehicle and hotels had AC. Along the coast it was very hot and dusty. Often the hotels had periods of time with no water and no electricity. Many of the day trip guides in the National Parks were outstanding. I highly recommend visiting Madagascar, but prepare for long difficult roads with very few toilets in between. I know many tours fly between several destinations. I chose not to spend time in airports, but to see as much of the country as I could. I'm happy to say Joce came through with getting this accomplished. Thank you, Joce.
