A Wonderful Way to See Beautiful African Animals

点评：My wife and I rode the Kilimanjaro Safaris on our recent visit to Animal Kingdom. I have two favorite attractions at Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris. They are very different from each other, but they are both very well done.
This attraction takes you on a truck ride through various areas that are modeled on African ecosystems. In the process of the truck ride you pass through areas where you can see quite a few species of African animals. On our ride we got clear views of Giraffes, Nile Crocodiles, African Wild Dogs, Ankole Cattle, Black Rhinos, Elands, Elephants, Flamingos, Hippos, Kudus, Lions, Mandrills, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Springboks, and White Rhinos. There are other animals in the area, but which ones are visible really depends on when you visit. In my experience I have always seen Giraffes, Elephants, Hippos, Crocodiles, and Rhinos.
The truck ride is a bit bumpy and bouncy, like you are off-roading in Africa. It adds the immersive nature of the experience. Along the way the driver points out the various animals and usually shares some facts about them.
We entered Animal Kingdom at 8 am right about opening time and went straight to the Safari. I believe the animals are usually more active in the morning during the warmer times of the year. The high temperature on the day we visited was 90 F. When we started in the morning it was only about 75 F. The animals often bed down and hide in the shade in the hot part of the day. Experiencing the attraction at opening gave us a good chance to see more of the animals active and out and about. It also meant the wait for the ride was shorter; we only waited 20 minutes.
I have been to Africa and seen African animals in the wild. It is a wonderful experience. Certainly Kilimanjaro Safaris is not the same as that. However, it is a wonderful way to see beautiful African animals. I highly recommend this attraction.
