点评:A great drive through the scenic back country. We went North to South which means doing the hilly bit is first. From the turnoff at Dashwood there is 25 km of sealed road before 160 km of gravel. The road condition was good except for the last 20 km or so which has huge potholes. We also had to cross a small ford that had had a washout and been filled with deep loose gravel. I mention this because although this is billed as a public road suitable for 2WD vehicles, I would strongly recommend going in at least an AWD SUV with more ground clearance than a car. Also get some gravel road driving experience before tackling this route. The drive is through big paddocks so there are cattle to give way to. From the Dashwood corner it took us 5 and 1/2 hrs to get to Hanmer with a few short breaks to look at things along the way and have lunch (allow longer if you are less confident on gravel roads). Take the Jacks Pass road to Hanmer (Jollies Pass is 4WD only).
