点评：While looking for interesting places to visit in the Newport area, I stumbled across Purgatory Chasm. It does show up on Tripadvisor and a couple of other places but it is actually rather hard to find. There are no signs, not even in the small parking lot that holds 8 cars. And its very difficult to find instructions for how to go there. FYI: Find the corner of Purgatory Rd., Paradise Ave. and Tuckerman Ave. in Middletown. Then turn onto Tuckerman Ave. You will see a small unmarked parking lot about half a block down on your left. This is the entrance to Purgatory Chasm.
I would not consider this to be a destination. But if you are in the area, it is certainly worth a stop. The path from the parking lot is quite short. This is really just a 15-minute stop. However, it is interesting.
