Cat Island Bahamas Disappointment

点评：Cat Island Bahamas is a smaller island off of Nassau about 48 miles long and a couple of miles wide in areas. It has a hilly area and an old monastery that sits on a hill. The beaches are beautiful and it is not overly inhabited there. That being said the place that we stayed was lovely, but there is very little to do on the island. In addition, it’s very expensive. We opted to cook for ourselves, but as you know, everything in the Bahamas is very high even just regular groceries. We did decide to go out to eat once at the place where we were staying called Fountain Bay. They fed us a dinner one evening think a meat and three type plate. They did not ask us what we wanted and gave give us fish … again imagine a meat and three. That meal cost us $145!!! so the one thing that I would say about this place is that the people are not super friendly there, we did find are some friendly people at Alvernas market! We still felt like we wete getting charged extra extra !
There is very little else to do so my recommendation is to visit this island for a couple of days and then try another island that is got more options and more things to see and do. Once you drive from end to end and explore like we did there’s really nothing to do after that except hang out at your place, Theted not even a lot of people to engage with. I also experienced difficulties in booking our place. They did not help us figure out how to get to the island in the first place so I will add here that in order to get to the island you should call Western air or one of the other puddle jumpers to schedule a flight from Nassau Note there are days that they fly and leave which is not every day. We actually ended up having a death in the family while we were there but had to wait several days to schedule time to fly off the islands.
We visited Kat Island, December 27 through January 3 then flew over to Nassau for one night then went home. We don’t plan to visit Cat island again.
