点评:I've just returned from a 3 day tour with Trailblazers-Pro and sadly have to report that I was very disappointed.
We opted for a package that included 3 days riding and 4 nights stay at the Posada La Plaza hotel. The hotel was pleasant and is set within a beautiful courtyard. It has a small restaurant and bar that offers exceptional food and a good selection of drinks, all at very reasonable prices. None of us had any complaints about the hotel other than the short supply of hot water, but I expect this is common in rural spain in winter.
The disappointment started on our first day's riding. We arrived at the Trailblazers garage to find a collection of various old bikes of all different makes and models, all very tired looking and most of them leaking dirty oil. The equipment didn't look much better either. Thankfully I had my own, but those riders that didn't had to pick from ripped trousers, old looking scratched up helmets and boots that I wouldn't want to put my feet in.
As we set off, it was instantly very clear that these bikes simply are not maintained as they should be. My own bike had a completely flat rear tyre, another had no brake fluid in the reservoir and several of the bikes were troublesome to start, smoked badly and would not idle properly. Clearly very little preparation prior to our arrival and every single one had issues.
Nevertheless, we set off and tried to make the best of what we had to work with. I could only describe the trails as tame. They are mostly concrete and dust road tracks along the hillsides and at least 80% of the "trails" ridden could be driven in a small hatchback car. The views are very nice, but don't expect any kind of technical riding. If you've never ridden a dirt bike before, then you might be entertained, but if you even just ride greenlanes in the UK, you'll likely get bored quick and will find the pace slow.
Our second day's riding was cancelled from the start. Cloud had descended on to the village and there was drizzle in the air, all completely beyond the control of the operator. Our guide was insistant that the visibility was too poor and in the interest of safety, all riding was cancelled for the day. No offer or even suggestion of any other activities for the day and a full or partial refund denied. It felt like he'd seized a golden opportunity to cancel and have the day off. We paid for a taxi to Malaga and had a very enjoyable day. Even a contribution towards our taxi cost would have gone a long way.
Day 3 was much the same as day 1 and revealed more bike problems. My own bike had almost no clutch action, the kiskstart kept falling off (no electric start), no kill switch and the handlebar grips kepts sliding off. To make things worse, halfway through the morning the bike decided to get stuck at almost maximum rpm with no means to shut the bike off other than restraining it on the brakes and stalling it out.
Another rider had no oil filler cap which had fallen out on the first day and had a stick wedged in the filler neck. Another had no damping on the front forks. Another lost use of the rear brake halfway through the day. All bikes had side cases cracked and were leaking fluids through bodged up glue job repairs. Several had very worn tyres, one had a back tyre that was rubbing on the chain. If I had to descride the bikes with one word, it would be Dangerous. Absolutely not fit for purpose.
I went on to learn that the Owner & primary guide, Graham, is trying to sell the business, but in all honesty it's not a business and there is very little of any value to sell. Graham is now much older than the photo on his website and going by the trophies in the garage once had some glory days riding with his son competitively.
Sadly though, it is clear that he has lost the love and either lacks the resources or the desire to re-invest some money and bring the operation up to standard.
Seeing as the operator claims to take safety very seriously, they would in my opinion be very wise to close this operation down before somebody gets seriously injured by one of these worn out bikes - There is no shame in calling it a day and walking away with your head held high. Or even re-opening again after things out.
Lastly, I would like to say that I don't take any pleasure in writing bad reviews, but in this instance I want to prevent anyone taking the time off work and spending their hard earned money, only to be disappointed in the same way that I was. Similarly, I hope the operator takes on board the issues raised.
