I love that Spectrum 8 is back
Spectrum 8 Theatre的点评
点评：My movie played in theater 4. The sound was perfect! Not at all blaring and overwhelming. Yay! The lights dimmed immediately upon the end of the previews and the beginning of the film which I appreciated. I paid $10 for a matinee show. (Tuesday matinee price is $7.) I also appreciate this pricing as compared to the $16 price of a ticket at Crossgates. Why would I pay $6 more? For the less comfortable seats? The rude crowds? The depressing unoriginal decor?
Then I blew it by paying $14 for a large soda and tub of popcorn. Lol. I asked the nice counter guy if the butter was real actual butter like it used to be and the he said yes but it was definitely not pure butter. I’m 56 and I have learned to distinguish between butter and oil. That butter was oil. Spectrum still has homemade baked goods! I did not sample. But next time I will go for a gluten free brownie!
The entryway and lobby have not had any upgrades in the last few years. Not any that I noticed anyway. I don’t think it needs upgrades either. They did a renovation a number of years ago when they added the larger lobby area where they used to hang artwork and they painted the walls interesting colors. I love the style and I like the familiarity of the place. It does hold a lot of memories for me. After my divorce, I came here at least two Saturdays every months for 5 years.
The ladies room off the lobby still feels claustrophobic to me. I always forget about the larger restrooms available near the theaters to the left of the concession stand. This theater has a LOT of movies now. I saw a thriller FBI crime story with Jude Law, looking like a 1970s heartthrob. The man is buff.
I may come back to see Bladiator soon. I have missed Spectrum. I plan to support it. There’s something I still love about going out to the movies. I don’t ever want Spectrum 8 to close again.
