点评:We have embarked out of the Port of Piraeus on cruise ships several times without any incidents or big problems. We've always gotten to the port via either a tour bus or a cab. Although we have thought about it, we have never ridden the Metro to the port, since it's always a lot more difficult to use the Metro when you have luggage. We have also never arrived at the port as a destination point and tried to get into Athens or just walked around and toured the docks or area adjacent to the port. It's certainly a big and busy commercial and transportation port, and I have heard the area is a little seedy. On this last trip however, for some reason, it took an extremely long time to get through customs and board our ship. We stood in a line for a long time, just to get into a waiting area (a big tent) where you were given a number and then had to sit and wait for your number to be called. My number was finally called, and I got to go and get into another line which finally worked its way up to the custom officials. The problem was that there were seven of us, and we were not given consecutive numbers when we entered the waiting area. As a result, when we were called into the second line, we were not together. It took me about two hours to finally get aboard the ship from the time I arrived at the port, and I beat everyone else in my group (family) by about thirty minutes. At least they didn't separate the young children from one of their parents.
