Riding the trails of the Sierra Nevada on horseback - spectacular!

点评：We were looking for a short-break holiday riding horses in Spain and my wife found Sierra trails. This well-exceeded our expectations. We were picked up from Malaga (by Jeanette) and driven to our accommodation in a traditional grand spanish-style house in the beautiful heritage village of Bubion, high in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada, Spain. There was snow visible on the highest peaks even on a hot day in June. Our guide was Dallas Love, who grew up in this area and has years of experience of taking horse-riders on the many trails in the surrounding area. The horses are stabled about 5km away from the guest accommodation and riders are taken by car to the stable. There are many fine and experienced horses - mostly Andalucian geldings and Dallas chooses a horse to suit each rider. The trails along traditional pathways, go widely around the area and afford spectacular views and insight into an area that was first populated more than 1000 years ago. Most of the trails are at a walking pace, and their are areas where the rider must dismount and lead the horse, but there are opportunities for faster work including canters. Dallas prepares a picnic lunch that will exceed the expectations of even the most critical rider. Evening meals are taken in one of the several restaurants in Bubion. Overall, this was a delightful experience and one that we hope to repeat many times.
