Very unpleasant experience.
Thirsk Racecourse的点评
点评：On holiday in Yorkshire so, on a beautiful sunny day, decided to visit Thirsk racecourse for their season's 'finale'.
Bought tickets over the phone and started the long trip from Whitby.
Arrived some two and a half hours later and collected the tickets from the desk.. only to be told that we wouldn't be allowed into the Premier enclosure as we weren't in the 'correct attire'?
As it was incredibly hot and sunny I wore a smart sweatshirt and pressed tailored shorts... my partner/carer (I'm disabled) was beautifully dressed.
I questioned the attendants comment and he said we should have been told when purchasing tickets re dress code?... we were not.
However, unlike others in the same situation who turned around and drove away, we decided to proceed.
As we attempted to enter various bars and eating/seating places, we were very rudely denied as, 'no collar and tie, no entry'!
There were around 50% of other males within these areas who also didn't have ties nor jackets, merely un-ironed scruffy polo shirts hanging outside of their trousers!
As other non Premier areas were quite a distance, (which I find difficult), we left after the second race... somewhat disillusioned and extremely disappointed.
I frequent many racecourses regularly, mainly Grade 1 tracks (Ascot, Sandown Park, Cheltenham etc) with no question whatsoever about dress code. However, this Grade 3 venue decided to deny us access.
Outrageous.
