点评：Watamula Hole is located in WestPunt and accessed via a small portion of paved road with the last kilometre or so via a pot hole riddled dirt road. I walked to Watamula the morning after a rain and the road was interesting to navigate as the pot holes were full of water so if in a vehicle it would have been difficult to determine how deep the potholes were, and there are some deep ones. The second visit we went in our truck and it was a slow but totally doable drive. We saw several small vehicles that successfully made the drive as well but I would not have put a small car through the road.
Watamula hole is a hole that has eroded in the island coral stone, called the eye of the island, where water enters and waves splash out. Also along the full length of the iron shore the waves crash against the coral with the spray generating lots of mini rainbows. Over slightly from the hole is a crevice in the iron shore where you can hear what seems to be the island breathing / snoring.
The iron shore is very sharp and uneven and I highly recommend running shoes to protect the soles of your feet and give you stability.
When you are driving down the dirt road you will think you are on the wrong path but keep going straight. eventually you will pass a blue recycling bin, keep going straight for another about 800 m. You will reach a T junction, take the left to Watamula (the right goes to a closed light house that is not accessible via a vehicle.) Follow the left path until you reach the iron shore where there will be a small parking area and a covered sun shelter with picnic tables.
There is no cost to visit or park at Watamula.
