点评:Very swimmable beach at the west end river area, though you definitely want to bring water shoes or sandals/flip-flops because there are rocks and gravel throughout the swimming area, some of which you can’t see when the water is moving quickly.
The east bay beach was closed due to bacteria. Recommend checking the City of Ottawa listings for daily water quality testing. Strangely, the sign at the front gate gave the impression there was no swimmable water at all when one of two beaches was open. Lifeguards on duty and buoys marking the swimming area are important and helpful because the current is quite strong.
Lots of shade with mature trees close to the shoreline with nice picnic tables. We were able to sit in shade for several hours because the shoreline is north facing. What a rare treat! Not too busy on Wednesday afternoon mid July even though the weather was very hot and mostly sunny.
Portapotties available as well as a building with multiple washrooms and a fountain to refill water bottles.
Haven’t tried the trails yet but they look very appealing and we could see one photographer there with a massive lens near the marsh.
Parking is two dollars for five hours and frequently monitored. You can pay by credit card or coins.
Absolutely no dogs and no excuses. This is an ecological conservation area.
