Heysham Nuclear Power Station Tour的点评
点评：Having visited Heysham as a teenager (not long after Heysam 2 came online) this time around I was taking my own teenager who has a love of all things 'STEM'.
Visits are run weekdays most of the year, subject to operational constraints, and comprise a c.1hr introduction / safety brief and 1hr walking tour of the facility. There is also a small exhibition area which covers the basics of electricity, power generation and the nuclear industry.
The staff were really incredible and a great reflection on EDF's commitment to open community engagement. They went to significant lengths not just to answer all the technical questions which were asked, but also to make sure everyone was engaged, especially younger children. I think the youngest there were ~8, the oldest 16.
Do bear in mind that it is a working plant - while singnificant provision was made for access, there are stairs, uneven surfaces etc and parts are potentially noisy/hot.
Looking forward to my next visit, maybe with grand-kids :-)
