点评：Small free museum in centre of town, with a small gift shop at entrance. Go up the stairs to see the old courtroom, with the story of the Newport Chartist trial, there is a 20 minute video playing with dramatised moments from the trial. You can then walk down a steep staircase to see the cells on the ground floor. On the middle floor, there is a video playing with 6 stories from historic Monmouth and another room with items from the history of the town and the Henry V tapestry. There is a small art exhibition on the entrance level from a Ukrainian female artist in quite a large room ending 30 Mar 25, another room has a selection of books about Monmouth. There are toilets dotted around and lifts to all the floors. There is talk of the local Nelson museum, now closed, moving into this museum in the next 1-2 years. A visit will take no more than an hour.
