点评:We visited the centre on our first full day in Apia. Make sure you’re there for the beginning of the 10:30 am tour. It began with some of the female visitors being taught a traditional dance, before we were all taught how to weave palm fronds into the ‘plates’ that we would use for our lunch. We then participated in an ‘ava’ ceremony before moving through the village, visiting different fales to learn about a number of cultural traditions. This began with the cooking fale where our lunch was prepared (the cooking was done by the men) - fresh tuna, taro, breadfruit, banana and palusami were cooked under hot rocks. Volunteers got to help in this process, as well as squeezing the cream out of coconuts. We also watched demonstrations of wood carving and traditional tattooing before heading back to the main fale for our lunch and some amazing music, singing and dancing. It was time well spent, and a bargain at 20 tala per person.
