Slightly disappointing experience in lynxland
Iberian Lynx Land的点评
点评：We booked a 5 day trip to seek and photograph lynxes and other wildlife which included 4 days accommodation. We relied on reviews on TripAdvisor and the Iberian Lynxland website but found both somewhat misleading.
We were told that the accommodation would be a 'charming rural hotel' and assumed from this that we would be staying at the Caracola reviewed very highly here on TripAdvisor; in fact we were billeted at the Los Pinos Apartments which were somewhat basic. There was no housekeeping, a shower which flooded the apartment every time we used it and a breakfast which was essentially a slab of toasted bread plus coffee and juice.
We did have a sighting of the lynx, 3 of them on one day though they were at a distance of 400-500m. Iberian Lynxland's website recommends camera lenses of 300-600mm which proved completely ineffective in photographing an animal at this range. The website also promises the use of telescope and binoculars and while there was a good telescope available there were no binoculars. José lent me his binoculars several times but Felix just offered me a chair, presumably for me to sit and wait while others who had their own binoculars searched for wildlife! The website also promises the use of their lynx hide which does not appear to exist. While I consider myself fortunate to have seen the elusive lynx at all, and we also saw otters and several different birds, I think all of us on our trip felt slightly deflated by the mismatch between our expectations based on reviews etc and what we actually experienced.
