点评:An impressive and fascinating curation of Royal Navy and Devonport Dockyard artefacts memorabilia, illustrations, explanations and models showing the history of the Royal Navy in Plymouth.
Curator, Peter Dunlop, is a commissioned, former Royal Navy officer who has brought together an amazing team of volunteers, all passionate about ensuring that recognition of the very best of maritime skills is never forgotten.
A great many of the craft skills, manufacturing, logistical support, victualling, uniform supplies, maintenance and even new build are brought together to show how our island nation depended on these for its security and prosperity since the seventeenth century.
This is the place to visit, free of entry charges, to perhaps track down the ship's and roles of ancestors and relatives, and the parts played by the Naval base and its staff over the years. Or perhaps to spend a fascinating day meandering at your own leisure through the exhibits.
The sheer passion and authenticity presented by the volunteer guides and staff is infectious and warming. Even for those who have lived in Plymouth all their lives, this is still a 'must see' exhibition.
