点评：The Trentham Monkey Forest is home to around 140 Barbary macaques, sometimes known as Barbary Apes, but they're not apes. They roam free in an area of forest eating such food as they find but they are also fed regularly.
With such a large number of monkeys in the forest there are plenty to see and observe. They wander across the paths and visitors are warned not to touch them. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful.
There are other facilities outside the enclosed area such as a restaurant, toilets and a play area. It is advisable to book in advance as it is slightly cheaper. There is no free map available but there is a downloadable one on the web site. Otherwise the only map is in the souvenir brochure, £3.50 at the time of writing. In practice there's no need for a map as the paths are simple loops and are well sign posted.
We found it an interesting experience but without a good telephoto lens one would be restricted to photographing the animals nearer the paths. Binoculars would be useful if you don't want photographs as the monkeys can be some distance away.
