Mr. Hugo Bikes的点评
点评：We were very pleased to have found Mr. Hugo shop, which proved to be a great way to see several wineries near Maipu. They were helpful all around, and were bilingual which proved to be more helpful than anticipated.
The day of the tour, the shop provided some winery recommendations as well as lunch stops, all of which were noted on a map they provided. The map isn’t necessarily to scale, but the route is simple as it is effectively on a single road with limited turns. Good for beginners and experienced riders alike. There are bike paths or sidewalks for nearly the entire way, with exceptions for a short bit on the return leg, but cars on this road seem quite used to cyclists and provided ample room.
Bikes do have baskets or rear racks, but bringing a backpack or small sling is recommended (if not to bring water, then to transport wine back). With six bottles in tow, my wife & I found our two sling bags and one basket to be just enough.
We chose to have lunch at Tempus Alba along with some wine tastings, but be mindful of their kitchen hours (close in mid afternoon).
The only ding, and reason for 4 stars instead of 5, would be the bikes themselves.
Bikes are basic but effective for slow rolling. They’re no-frills beach cruisers, but do have quick release seat adjustments, limited gears, and have a basket or rear rack. The issue we had was the shifting cables needed some adjustment, as we could only access two of the rear cogs and only one of the front. This was a minor inconvenience, but worth noting. The shop would have corrected this before we departed if we had noticed, but it wasn’t discovered until several kilometers away.
Ultimately the price was right and we would rent from Hugo again if we found ourselves in the area.
