Wonderful experience right before we attended the Kentucky Derby

点评：This tour was perfect just 2 days before we attended the Kentucky Derby. We were staying in Lexington, just a short drive to Paris, Kentucky. After driving down the road seeing miles after miles of green pastures and black fencing, we knew we were seeing some amazing history. This historic horse farm is truly a "must do" in our opinion.
Make sure you book your tour well ahead of time! Visit to Claiborne can only be by reservations, no walk in. Our walking tour was led by someone who participates in all phases of the operations. He was informative, detail oriented, and very funny with his story telling. We really appreciated someone that really "knew the business". It added to our experience.
We were able to see the breeding shed, the stallion stalls, and the cemetery. The breeding process was explained in full details. Interacting with the stallions in the stable was the highlight of the tour. We got to meet several horses and War Front was presented to the group for some one-on-one time. Feeding him mints, petting him, and posing for pictures. The group was not rushed at all. We were awed to learn that War Front at one time commanded $250K stud fee, currently the asking price is $75K. Still no small change.
The cemetery included the roses adorned grave of Secretariat, along with many other champions: Gallant Fox, Bold Ruler, and Riva Ridge. The tour ended with a visit to the wonderful gift shop and very clean restrooms. Allow 1.5 hours.
