Interesting things about East Fort:
1. East fort was built to protect Sree Padmanabha swami temple. It has 16 towers where people could stay and tools could be stored.
2. East fort is also known as Kizhakke Kotta has great historical significance.
3. Since Trivandrum was the capital of the kingdom of Travancore, this fort served as a strategic defense against foreign invasions.
4. Major Tourist places inside East fort are Abhedananda Ashram, Ananthavilasam Palace, Kuthira Malika Palace Museum, Padmanabhaswamy temple, Vettimuricha Kotta. The Oldest of all the palaces is Sree Padam Kottaram and most Beautiful Palace of all is the Ananthavilasam Palace.
