点评:Went March 2025. Just like everyone else I didnt see any signs on the first (west) gate to say path was closed at the other (east) gate, so I got all the way round to the closed sluice gate. All it says there is that "there is no alternative route"! Couldnt believe it & no suggestions other than a 2 hour ++ trek back! Anyhow maybe everyone else is simply too nice & I wasnt going to walk all the way back round, so I retraced my steps 1/2km until I saw one of the site access roads (with a car on it). Decided road must be safe so crossed field and walked up a long & windy road 2 miles or so to the main bridge out. Guards on gate werent especially impressed (!) and I needed to give ID, but then it was straight out and I saved at least 1 1/2 hours. Maybe more of us should do this ie wander onto the site & road, as we are on a public footpath and the MOD is making no effort at all to mend it or provide an alternative. A few more travellers turning up on the wrong side of the main checkpoint might make the point!! Happy walking everyone!
