点评:This is a review of the self guided tour only - it sounds like folks who took the guided tour had a completely different experience. We really wanted to love this place but ended up disappointed, especially given it was $15 per person admission. For the self guided tour, we were given a map of the grounds with brief descriptions of the various outbuildings (such as logging skid camp, bunk house, blacksmith shop). Although interesting in concept, generally these exhibits and the grounds looked dirty and disorganized. We also explored the main building's collections of woodworking tools, printing, weaving, Lincoln hearse, etc. These were more curated but still quite dusty and cobwebby. I understand that this is a working shop but it also purports to be a history museum, and it deserves to be better maintained. It felt a bit neglected, which was sad because the place has so much potential and we did leave with a lot of respect for the craftsmanship and skills involved. Ultimately, though, what we saw did not match the image presented on the Blue Ox website. So if you go, definitely consider splurging on the guided tour.
