In December you can buy a ticket for £10. In January...and let's face it not a lot has changed in terms of the plants ... it's £16. I'd be happy to pay this in Spring, Summer or Autumn, when I'm sure the garden looks great. But not in January where the only excuse for the price hike is the (apparently) rare snowdrops. We saw two or three clumps of snowdrops and could see no explanations of why they were particularly special. So, if you are an avid snowdrop enthusiast, fine. If not, caveat emptor. So why you may ask, did we pay the money in the first place? Well the website (as of today) only has the Dec/Jan pricing, and we were paying for others, so we hoped that there would be value there somewhere (and on the site there was no indication of what the price would go up to in January). Indeed we even hoped that we might learn about the many different species of rare snowdrop. We did not. My advice, unless snowdrops are your particular thing, is go in Spring or Summer, where hopefully you will get better value for money.
