点评：Pub – The Swan And Railway – Wigan.
An excellent town centre pub in the heart of Wigan by the two railway stations The Swan & Railway Hotel (with 8 guest rooms), dates from 1898 and retains much of its Victorian look, small often narrow rooms and connecting corridors, but the aesthetic is spoilt by widescreen sport screens.
With 8 real ales on pump the bar is a CAMRA mecca, and the pub regularly sponsors the Wigan Beer Festivals (my visit followed a trip to the 2025 festival.
Hard to move round without other customers having to shuffle aside to let you through and the quickest way to the toilets from where I sat was to go out of the pub and re-enter on the other side of the central bar.
There are very useful train timetable electronic screens for checking when services arrive and depart though you do need to sit or stand near them to see the details properly, which is not easy when the bar is at its most crowded.
The Pieminister run pub has an old fashioned looking juke box though it still plays CD’s rather than vinyl.
