A wonderful place to spot seals, enjoy nature and build pebble sculptures!

点评：Lindisfarne has a unique, timeless feel to it. It is a beautiful island with a charming village, a famous priory and an iconic castle. But much of it is unspoilt grassland, grazed by sheep but managed for wildlife, particularly wading birds such plover and geese. There are lovely walks around the island and dogs are welcome but do keep them on a lead as ground-nesting birds abound. We particularly liked the wildlife orientation centre just outside the village on the way to the castle with its descriptive easy-to-read panels and wonderful floor to ceiling glassed viewing area overlooking some ponds. On the other side of the island near the harbour and the priory, don’t miss the 360 degree panoramic look-out tower over the whole island. Take some binoculars and scan the waters of the bay and nearby beaches to spot large numbers of grey seals. On a calm day, they are quite easy to see as the waters surrounding the island are crystal-clear! And, for a bit of family fun, have a go at building a cobble and pebble sculpture or two! The stones on the far beach near the castle are ideal building materials!
