Terrific Collection of French Impressionist Art
Ordrupgaard Art Museum的点评
点评：Ordrupgaard is situated just over seven miles to the north of Copenhagen.
I took the S train (C branch) to Klampenborg station then a short ride on the 388 bus.
On the way back, I took a pleasant 1.5 mile stroll to Klampenborg.
The current exhibition on show relates to Symbolism, by French and Belgian artists in the 19th century.
Themes relating to mysticism and mythology, it’s quite reminiscent of Pre Raphaelite art.
Whilst not my favourite type of art, I liked Camille Claudel’s sculpture Deep Thought, Henri Gervex’s Ophelia and the work of Fernand Khnopff.
However, the rooms full of French 19th century and later Impressionist art were really spectacular.
Courbet, Corot, Gericault, Daumier and Delacroix plus Renoir, Monet, Gauguin, Sisley, Morisot and Pissarro amongst others.
The Danish art was also brilliant.
A room full of paintings by Vilhelm Hammershoi, L A Ring and Peter Hansen was outstanding.
Admission fee was DKR 140.
