TKA cancelled my rental after the time of pick-up, saying it was "too windy" on a day with no wind

This summer, my family went to Taupo to kayak on the lake. TKA provided rude, unhelpful service, lied, and cancelled our reservation without cause after we had already arrived to pick up.
TKA cancelled our reservation after we had already arrived to pick up our rental, saying that it was too windy for kayaking. However, it was perfect weather and there was no wind. We even saw TKA leading a guided kayak tour out to the carvings 20 minutes later when we went out on the water with a boat. We shared our story with the boat captain, who agreed that it would've been a perfect day for kayaking, and said it was a shame that TKA would cancel a booking on a day like today.
If that's not enough, when I initially called to reserve kayaks, I asked if they could provide additional information that I couldn't find on the website (such as tips for where to kayak after the rock carvings, or instead of the rock carvings). The man on the phone responded with "You *obviously* haven't read the website. You can rent the kayaks for 4 hours or the full day and you can go anywhere on the lake." Totally unhelpful. Turns out, he was getting impatient with me because he was talking to me while guiding a kayak tour - giving both me and the group half of the service we deserved. The poor customer service is what made me go for a kayak rental instead of the guided tour. Now I know even that was the wrong choice! Go with a different kayak company or explore the lake another way - like on a sailboat, steam boat, or jet ski!
