Amazing landmark on the western trail - skip the museum
Chimney Rock National Historic Site的点评
点评：Chimney Rock is an amazing natural rock formation located in the middle of nowhere western Nebraska.
It takes 3 to 3,5 hours to reach it from Denver, CO driving through uninhabited and no one but animals around flat landscape. That scenery certainly adds up to the atmosphere and your perception how it used to be when at some point you see on the horizon a conical hill with, as it's name says, chimney on top of it.
Once there, you'll turn on the secondary road - the Museum will be to your right after around a mile. Skip the museum - it's a waste of time and money at 8$ fee with boring and scarce displays. Drive to the end of the road and then turn right driving another half a mile where's the parking lot.
From here you have fantastic views on the rock. Alternatively you can walk the paved path to reach its base, but we didn't do it due to lack of time and honestly - didn't see the benefit of that.
Luckily, on that September sunny morning we were the only one there, standing and looking at this iconic landmark and taking our photos. Those moments of total silence gave us the impression how it was 200 years ago when early settlers on Oregon trail saw it.
5 min walk from the parking lot is the Chimney Rock cemetery, which I certainly recommend visiting. It's a testimony of those who passed away there and didn't make it to the end.
NOTE: Have in mind there's absolutely nothing else to see nor do here. Closest attraction is Scotts Bluff National Monument - half an hour drive.
However, for me it was worth our time as it's an important part of American history.

幸运的是，在那个九月阳光明媚的早晨，只有我们两个人站在那里，凝视着这座标志性的地标，拍照留念。那一刻的寂静让我们仿佛回到了200年前，当早期的俄勒冈拓荒者看到它时的情景。
从停车场步行5分钟即可到达烟囱岩公墓，我强烈推荐大家去看看。那里埋葬着那些英年早逝的人们。
注意：这里除了烟囱岩公墓，没有其他任何景点或活动。最近的景点是斯科茨布拉夫国家纪念碑，开车需要半小时。
不过，对我来说，这次参观非常值得，因为它是美国历史的重要组成部分。
