点评:Want to the king of the beasts of Africa? Look no further.
It’s about a 50 min drive from Cape Town toward Paarl in the N2. It’s fairly easy to find and there’s plenty of parking. If you drive past a giant Broiler farm or a giant wine bottle, you’ve gone to far!
What separates this venue from other reserves is that this is home to abused big cats from around the world where release to the wild is impossible.
Each lion, sometimes two are allocated a decent plot of land in which to spend their days. There is even a Bengal Tiger plus white lions. Not every day is feeding day so check the web site first.
The staff were ultra friendly and knowledgeable.
The reception is at the top of steep steps and then there’s a climb down to see the lion. If you can’t manage stairs ring the office as there is ground level access. .
Once away from the building there is very little shade - so bring a hat and sun block. Reception only has a very limited supply of refreshment including cold drinks, ice cream and a few sweets. The gift shop is also limited in what it offers.
The distance between a visitor and lion can be as little as one metre - what keeps you safe is a double fence and one of these is electric!
The setting of the sanctuary is magical, open grassland with mountains as a back drop.
My little party were smitten by this place - support this lifeline to saving nature.
