Historic House with amazing staff members

点评：What a fantastic trip to see Duff House (Sunday 2nd). We took the opportunity to visit using the Historic Sunday free tickets that they have run over the winter period. It did not disappoint.
Parking: we needed accessible parking which was a bit difficult to find at first due to works going on at the site and temporary fencing up. However, speaking to the staff inside the shop they were so helpful. We were able to park at the back and come in via a side entrance. Other parking is just a short walk away but not a lot of space especially if there is a sport event in the park in the grounds.
Lovely little shop with gifts and historic books about the house and area. The staff in the shop again were really helpful.
A lot of the rooms to view are on the first floor and they are breathtaking. The size and height of some of the rooms are higher. The paintings that also fill them are so varied and the house runs exhibitions of different paintings from other galleries.
There is a lift up to all 3 floors and the staff were really helpful with navigating the floors. It actually felt like we were on a private tour. The staff were all so knowledgeable and had stories about the house and grounds as well as their own experiences. In general they were all really lovely to chat to and passionate about their jobs. Had lovely conversations about the art work and history of the house and area.
The third floor has a scale model of what the house should have looked like if it was finished completely and it would have been absolutely stunning.
Highly recommend visiting this house and definitely engage with the team that works there. We had a fabulous afternoon out.
Really hopeful that Historic Scotland continue to run these events over the winter months and that more houses/sites are opened up. I would definitely go back here to see the grounds and explore more of the area!
