Skiing in the desert
迪拜滑雪场的点评
点评：I went with my 18 year old son. We love skiing so this was a must do to ski in Dubai! I mean you really wouldn’t think about skiing in a desert would you!
We booked through Viator, if you do too make sure you book the right package. I only booked for the extra activities but the actual slope which was what we wanted but it was easy to add on at the till. We then we collected our equipment and clothing which was very easy to do. The jacket and salopettes provided were warm and comfortable but they don’t have pockets! So take a bum bag or lanyard for your phone. Now the free gloves you get are just fleece gloves they are NOT enough to keep your hands warm! Had I realised this I would’ve packed our own ones. I took our socks but wish we’d taken gloves too.
We were impressed with the slope, it’s very long for an indoor slope and had a few different routes to come down. Half way down there’s a log cabin coffee shop but we didn’t use it so can’t review that bit. We had a good hour and a half of skiing and enjoyed ourselves now the downside……the lift moves at a snails pace. It’s very slow and this is where you end up getting cold (unless you have proper ski gloves on!)
One thing that surprised me was the lack of helmets being worn. We had to ask for helmets when we collected our ski gear, then given out automatically. I’m shocked that people don’t want to protect their heads/brains from injury as it can happen quite easily on the slope. Really think this policy should be reviewed and everyone should have to wear one.
We didn’t end up doing the extra activities even though I’d paid for them as our hands were so cold and you had to go right out of the slope area back to the entrance to change your boots. Too much faff when you’re cold!
There’s plenty of lockers and changing room space.
If you like skiing it’s definitely worth a visit even if it’s just for the we went skiing in Dubai conversation for the future
