Do not rent this home!!
Our experience at this property was deeply upsetting. On the very first night of our stay, we were robbed while we and our five small children slept. Items stolen included cash, two pairs of Maui Jim sunglasses, and AirPods. Using the “Find My” feature, we tracked our belongings to a nearby village, and we spent our first full day dealing with the police and obtaining a report to provide to Airbnb and the host.
The host attempted to assist by hiring a security guard for the second night, but the trauma and anxiety of the situation were too overwhelming. We ultimately left the property and booked a stay at Atlantis to salvage our vacation. Despite asking for only half of the rental cost as a refund to ease the financial burden on both sides, the host declined, citing financial inability. Airbnb refunded their service fee, but the host was unwilling to provide any compensation.
What was even more concerning was learning that this was not the first break-in at the property this year, as shared by someone close to the host. The timing of our robbery—on the very first night—raises questions about property security. We believe an unlocked window was the point of entry.
While the host did try to help by arranging security, the overall experience was unacceptable, and I would not recommend this property to anyone until significant security measures are implemented.
