Really enjoyed wandering around the harbour

点评：Padstow is typical of many Cornish fishing villages/towns, picturesque harbour with lots to walk around and see. Being there is June we expected it to be busy, but didn't expect so many dogs making a complete nightmare. You expect crowded streets in these villages as they are narrow, but avoiding dogs and their mess is taking it too far. We have dogs of our own, but when out make sure they are under control.
Around the harbour there are plenty of good cornish pubs, cafes, ice creams and shops. Padstow must be one of the places with the highest density of boutiques!!
There are a number of pleasure and adventure boat trips available. along with the ferry to Rock across the Camel.
If you want sandy beaches then you have to walk out of the town, or take the ferry to Rock. However these are well worth the extra leg work.
When you wander around the town and harbour you can't help but notice the Rick Stein empire, we counted 15 places linked to him or his wife. Restaurants, Fish and Chip shop, cafes, souvenir shops, deli, cookery school and many more. We were thinking that Padstow maybe renamed Steinville one day!!!! If nothing else he as put Padstow on the map, but it often look like the town is struggling to cope.
Then you have the other attractions such as the Museum which give you an insight to the history of the town and the impact of the railway. The National Lobster Hatchery which is well worth a visit and the Camel Trail along the river.
Overall we enjoyed our few days in Padstow and it is well worth a visit. Probably before or just after the peak season. Maybe less canines and more parking.
