点评:This was the only thing we had planned on the road trip ( Inasmuch as I said we should go there), and to be honest... I thought I had been here on another road trip years ago, it turned out that I had mixed it up in my memories with Bodalla. As soon as I drove into the area, I knew this is somewhere I had never been.
There is a large carpark adjacent to it and toilets are across the road from the centre. My daughter did her usual thing as soon as we arrived and lit a cigarette whilst I made use of the facilities. Then we headed inside. The information centre is in here as well.
We went upstairs, there is no cost to look around this centre. It's a mini museum inside and quite fascinating... here you can meet a three-teated cow!! I love that as my daughter has aged, she has similar traits to her father and I... she loves reading about things and she spent quite a bit of time doing so. Also upstairs there is a giftware store - she insisted on buying a cheese magnet with Bega on it to remind herself of the trip. :)
After we had looked around, we returned downstairs to look at the cheese products... you can taste three cheeses. ( I didn't ask if more were on offer for turophiles) A bus full of people had turned up and I was trying to get my daughter to be a bit more focused so I could order lunch. The bus passengers were already lining up for food.
We ordered two toasties and cokes. Utterly amazing toasties- using butter and their own tasty cheese. It gives you a very homely feeling when you are on a road trip to have something so simple done so well. We sat out on the balcony to eat. There is lots of seating available both in and out... until a bus load of people arrive! :)
We left after buying a large cheese and some quince/orange paste. Thank goodness I keep a cheese cooler in my car for these moments. ( after a visit to a cheese place in the NE years earlier)
