Better transfer signage needed but great boat ride

点评：After having ridden the Sagano scenic train ride to Kameoka we had the boat ride booked for half an hour later. Plenty of time to get to the Boat Ride starting point. However the directions and instructions of how to get to the boat were unclear. Signage at the station was muddled and we missed a connecting bus (ticket was extra Yen in cash for this). So a kind Japanese lady ordered a taxi for us which arrived 15mins later and drove us the 3km for ¥1600. The boat company itself was a very professional and organised outfit. Toilets at the departure but not at the end point without going into the town Arashiyama. Life jackets issued. Three boatmen rotated their jobs on the boat with varying degrees of understandable English which I am obviously very grateful for. Some very humorous commentary. We had a glorious sunny day for March and the rapids and river water speed didn’t at any point make me feel nervous, these guys know what they’re doing.
If I were to do again choose cherry blossom season (April) or Autumn as the colours along the river would be awesome but obviously the town and area will be rammed with tourists.
