点评:This place is a little gem, a region where weathering has produced rock pinnacles that are said to look like praying monks. You be the judge as to what they look like, but its a fun area to hike around in and only a 10km bike ride from Creel.
Its in the area east of town controlled by the Raramiuri. You pay $50 at the booth off the main road for access their lands. You'll also pay $20 to access the Valley of the Monks.
On the way there you'll pass some other rock formations said to resemble frogs. and the Old Mission, a stark stone structure at a barren crossroads. Paths and trails crisscross the landscape to the south of here down towards the lake and it makes for fun bike riding. I rented a bike from 3 Amigos in Creel. It was well maintained and perfect for the trails and the conditions around there. They have recently moved out to the north edge of town.
Creel itself is a lovely little mountain town that has grown up around the train station. It is the last stop on the Chepe Express before it begins its descent onto the Copper Canyon en route to the coast. Family run hotels and restaurants are scattered along the main street, along with many souvenir stores and places hawking tours to the local sights. The easiest way to get there is to take the coach from Chihuahua city. It goes 5 times a day, including Sundays, and leaves from the downtown terminus.
