点评:Every visitor to Adelaide will stroll through Rundle Mall at some point. Adelaide’s shops are centred around the mall but it is a relatively small shopping centre compared to Sydney or Melbourne.
Adelaide Arcade has some speciality and one-off shops but otherwise, most of the shops are mid-range, chain-stores that you can find anywhere. There are lots of familiar names, as well as a big Target and a mid-size David Jones.
If like us, you are not very interested in shopping, walking through the mall is still a very nice thing to do. We saw street entertainers each day and passed several striking sculptures. The newest is a giant steel pigeon near Gawler Place. However the popular favourite is ‘A Day Out’ which features four life-sized bronze pigs who look as if they have been let loose in the mall. One snuffles through a bin and another has plonked himself down on his fat bottom.
We also enjoyed stopping at Haigh’s Chocolates, housed inside the historic Beehive Corner. After a few tasting samples, we bought a few bags for ourselves and as gifts.
