A varied selection from the Renaissance is interesting and include Andrea Vaccaro’s Sons of Jacob and an Adoration of the Magi from around 1530.
The 1800s are represented by fine pieces such as In front of a Church by Ernest Bieler and Eugene Burnand's A Bull in the Alps. In the later a sole animal on a peak is bellowing, with not a trace of humans around.
A number of sculptures by the famous Swiss artist Giacometti are to be seen. These are included in the modern and contemporary section that also comprises works by many others such as Matisse.
La montange s’endort by Edmond Bille is a captivating piece. It shows a young woman asleep in the high mountains with a symmetry between the outline of her body and the background landscape.
