点评:It was a very disappointing experience for the following reasons:
1.There was an hour's wait to enter the building. Upon entering I saw that the railing consisted of a slack rope on only one side. I am 73 years old and in reasonably good health, but after walking 20 steps, I turned back. ONLY THE HEALTHIEST PEOPLE WITH GOOD BALANCE SHOULD ATTEMPT THIS. IT WAS A WASTE OF $10.
2. When we paid for tickets, my son asked at the ticket booth if he would have unlimited time to take pictures at the top. He was told yes. When he got to the top, there was only room for one person at a time and one spot to stand and take pictures. After about three minutes, he was told he had to leave because there was a long line behind him. HOW CAN YOU HAVE PEOPLE CLIMB TO THE TOP AND THEN LIMIT TO THEIR VIEWING TO ONE POINT (INSTEAD OF 360 DEGREES WHICH IS THE CASE IN ALL OTHER LIGHTHOUSES) AND ALSO LIMIT THEIR TIME IN TAKING PICTURES? NO RESTRICTIONS EXIST LIKE THIS AT THE TWENTY OTHER LIGHTHOUSES WE HAVE BEEN TO.
3. Don't you care or understand that most people are having to drive a distance on one lane roads to reach the Montauk lighthouse? And then to be cheated out of the experience of seeing a great view BY BEING ABLE TO WALK AROUND THE TOP OF THE LIGHTHOUSE IS UNFORGIVABLE You clearly have no repeat business because who would want to come back when the WALK UP IS TREACHEROUS AND YOU GET VIRTUALLY NOTHING AT THE END FOR YOUR TROUBLE.
I can't be the first person who has complained. You should be ashamed for not addressing these deficiencies in the off season so that tourists can have the great experience they expect when taking the time to come.
