Significant historical site not far from Dalyan

点评：Kaunos is a substantial historical site, dating back to the 4th Century BC. Some boat tours will allow access to the site, but it's best to get there independently by a short (rowing boat) ferry crossing to the other side of the river, then a pleasant 20 minute walk along a paved road to the site itself; on the way you can stop for a closer view of the rock tombs, but unfortunately the access point never seems to be open. You can also stop at one of the roadside stalls for freshly squeezes pomegranate juice!
There is a small admission fee to the site of Kaunos itself, and then plenty to explore across a fairly extensive site, The highlight is the ancient theatre, but be sure to head down to the lower levels of the ancient town to get a proper idea of urban life in ancient times.
On your return to the ferry point, stop for something to eat at the Gozde Cafe before your return to Dalyan.
