Kyle Line (Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh)的点评
点评：The line from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh is an amazing journey and I would highly recommend doing it if you enjoy beautiful scenery.
I last did this journey 36 years ago and I cannot say I remember it being so lovely. I have been looking for an opportunity to revisit the line so I finally made it.
There are trains running throughout the day between the two destinations and normally run about every two hours. The train leaves Inverness and immediately veers left to take you over the River Ness and the Caledonian Canal. You skirt alongside the Moray Firth and stop at stations to Dingwall. The line veers left away from the Far North line and the Cromarty Firth and pass through the Dingwall suburbs and back into countryside.
Along the way pass a number of lochs including Loch Luichart which is AMAZING. I got a morning train and as we passed there was mist across the loch making it look very otherworldly.
As we left Achnasheen the land becomes quite desolate and I wondered if any humans have walked among some of the countryside. The train stops at Strathcarron and from here the line creeps along the side of the water with the road next to you as well as cottages and small villages.
The train soon approaches Plockton where there are quite a few little houses as well as little islands with trees on them. From here it is not long to Kyle of Lochalsh where years ago you would get the ferry to Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye. Nowadays you whizz through this little village and take the bridge over to the island.
Do take time to have a wander round this place as it is really lovely. I highly recommend the station museum to learn about the line and a history of the area.
