点评:I took a massive intake of breath when I 1st opened the door. My friend was late, so I was alone and in retrospect that made it more impactful. I was read The Faraway Tree as a kid, and this was as I imagined a true fairy house would be : light filtering in all over the place and a dear little room I couldn't fully capture with photos. Full immersion into another world, is how I would describe it. We were invited to join the Wilderness Wood choir in the evening and my friend, who was the catalyst for this crazy adventure and did turn up eventually, stipulated it was 'a must!' I thought oh dear, I am not very bohemian, but we were fully and genuinely welcomed...(I think!!!) No really, we were, and I soon found myself singing and bluffing along, enjoying myself immensely. There was an opportunity to volunteer in the woods, too / AND I ALSO LOVED THAT! I read recently that statistically kids can remember an average of 100 corporate logos and only 10 plants. (Braiding Sweetgrass, Robin Wall Kimmerer) and this is a humbling example of a place giving back so unconditionally to humans. I went to sleep in a surprisingly comfortable bed adorned with beautifully laundered linen?...Cotton? Anyway, beautiful sheets. With stars fully visible above my head....in a place that had a proper tea pot and a full sized fridge....Near a train station. With an indoor loo! I can now recognise a wild orchid. A violet. An anemone. It was joyful, and I'm truly grateful, thank you.
