点评:The Kalka - Shimla railway is a 2' 6" narrow gauge railway, built by the British at the end of the nineteenth century, and offers views of dramatic scenery, multiple tunnels and a chance to meet some locals.
We only travelled from Shimla to Kandaghat which is only a distance of 38km but it took us 2 hours. We saw some great scenery, lots of tunnels and bridges, monkeys, and stopped at a number of stations.
The carriages (even first class) have no air conditioning (we were warned) but it doesn't matter since most people open the windows to look out anyway.
This was our second outing on a 'Toy train' in India and this was, by far, the best. (The other 'Toy train' ride was just a ride on a commuter train on a narrow gauge railway. This is different.)
It's a great way to see the scenery, relax and to grab a photo of the famous bridge just before Kandaghat (if you are quick and are seated on left hand side of the carriage).
