Historical building with wonderful staff

点评：Historical buildings and beautiful staff. The old fort has been kept in great condition with wonderful scenery from every area of the hotel. It’s located on the border of Uruguay and Brazil just 9km from Chuy (Chuy is a border town used by most Uruguayans to shop for cheap goods as Brazil usually offers products at lower prices also used for duty free shopping) The grounds are beautiful and it has a pool. Rooms on the top floor have Air-conditioning , the downstairs (we were told) do not as the thick stone walls insulate from the heat. The only draw back for me was the bathrooms were old, in good working condition but did need updating. The rooms were comfortable but also needed a little updating. I note however everything was confortable , clean and in good working order. It was not an expensive stay, very reasonable. Breakfast was wonderful, bacon, scrambled eggs, fruit, breads, jams, cakes, savory scones etc. it was buffet style. The highlight was the wonderful staff, very polite , friendly, made you feel at home. They have a resident cat and little dog which was very sweet. I was told there are plans for bathroom upgrade. They also have a restaurant where you can lunch or have dinner which allows you to stay in house without needing to leave. All in all a different kind of stay in a sleepy, historical place.
