Guide Dogs - National Centre的点评
点评：Very easy to book online and easy to find with Satnav postcode. On arrival you sign in and don a visitor’s badge and are met by your guide(s). If you are fortunate enough to have Carole and her dog Ron when you visit; then you’re in for a treat. Carole did a marvellous job of explaining how everything works over the 2hr tour; Ron provided licks and paws as required!
The tour begins with the history of the organisation and an overview of the site. Then you move on to learning everything from white sticks to the harness a dog will wear through its working life. There were some excellent sensory experiences and a wealth of knowledge about how the pups are raised; from conception to going home with their puppy raisers.
From viewing galleries above you then get to see PUPPIES (not guaranteed). Of course I’d have loved to have gotten closer but even so; we were able to watch as the Vets carried out health checks and vaccinated the pups. Not to mention all the cute play-fighting, napping etc. We learned so much about how a guide dog is such a vital lifeline to a VI person but also that it’s not cheap.
In summary, definitely book a visit; go and learn from the excellent guides, admire the super cute little puppies and support (with donation or gift shop purchases etc) the vital work of Guide Dogs. It is 101% worth it 🦮
