点评：Door Shakespeare is NOT world-class theater, but it IS remarkably good theater performed in an absolutely enchanting setting!
As an avid Shakespeare theater goer, I frankly did not expect much from Door Shakespeare’s August 2024 production of Romeo & Juliet. After all, only a few of the actors were Equity players. Boy were we surprised.
While I could fault the consistency of the accents used across the cast, the choice of the period setting, and other details of the production, I was amazed at the outstanding diction demonstrated by the entire cast and the gusto with which each played their role.
All-in-all, itt was a commanding performance, one of the best of Romeo and Juliet that I have ever seen. I am sorely tempted to award it the coveted five stars, but I restrict that to only fully world-class events, restaurants or hotels. Therefore, the four stars.
Obviously, I recommend Door Shakespeare most highly!
