A great museum with lots of heart

点评：We visited on the opening day of the season in March 2025 with four adults and three children (12, 11, 9). Everyone had a great time, including the children. The museum has a diverse array of artifacts that highlight the rich history of Topsail Island, including Native American, pirate, and military history. The kids did a scavenger hunt and got a trinket for finishing. Outside they have a dig area where the kids think they found a shark tooth.
We walked away appreciating the wonderful tapestry of American history and also how the sands of time continue to reveal more to the locals that generously share their story.
Lastly, the friendly workers here really made the experience. We witnessed how every guest is personally greeted, and while this is a self-guided tour, the good folks who worked there lent their insights throughout our time there, making this a very special experience for our family. Just this month, we were in Washington DC exploring a handful of Smithsonian museums and had to say the friendly and passionate workers of this modest collection made this more educational and memorable than the larger museums.
